The Villa Group Resorts, a unique collection of luxury resorts in five of the top destinations in Mexico, has hosted a large number of celebrity chefs over the years at their various culinary journeys and gastronomic events. While each event has highlighted the exquisite culinary scenes of Puerto Vallarta, Riviera Nayarit, Cabo San Lucas, Cancun, and the Islands of Loreto, it is the undeniable talent and innovative techniques of the myriad famous chefs that inspired those at The Villa Group Resorts in Cabo San Lucas to host a Gastronomic Journey of their own. The culinary event, which featured the flair and unique touch of 19 of the resorts’ chefs and over 50 resort employees, was a memorable affair for all those staying at the trio of resorts in Cabo, Mexico this past June.
Gastronomic Journey by The Villa Group opened on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 with a culinary contest between 19 of the resorts’ top chefs. Each of the sister resorts in Cabo San Lucas, including Villa del Palmar, Villa del Arco Cabo San Lucas, and Villa La Estancia Los Cabos, sent their best to perform in a competition that pitted each chef against one other in a culinary battle to be considered the best chef of The Villa Group Resorts. With resort guests and hotel directors judging the event, the various chefs drew from their own experiences and unique interactions with the many celebrity chefs over the years to prepare their very best Mexican dishes at Tomatillos, the “Farm to Table” restaurant at Villa del Palmar Cabo San Lucas. The opening event turned out to be one of the most scintillating gastronomic events in Cabo, Mexico as each chef poured their heart, soul, and skill into creating the most exquisite dishes they could.
The excitement and intrigue continued throughout the week at Villa del Arco Cabo San Lucas and the other two sister resorts as diverse employees showed off their skills at Wednesday’s Collaborator's Contest and as the executive chefs of each of the resorts’ Cabo San Lucas restaurants participated in wine pairings, cooking demos, and multi-course dinner preparations. Not only did The Villa Group chefs find their inspiration from the many famous chefs who have participated in the culinary journeys at the resorts, but they also pulled from the surrounding region and beloved Mexican cuisine to put a special mark on each of the scheduled events. Meals included a variety of seafood specialties, wines from Cabo, Mexico and the Baja region, in addition to a number of Mexican favorites that people around the world have come to love.
Gastronomic Journey by The Villa Group was definitely one of the best gastronomy events in Los Cabos to date. Guests staying at Villa del Arco Cabo San Lucas, Villa del Palmar, and Villa La Estancia Los Cabos had the time of their lives watching as each chef prepared their dishes with precision, in addition to indulging on the delicious concoctions they created throughout the 4-day culinary event. This is neither the first or the last of the culinary journeys and gastronomic events to be hosted by The Villa Group Resorts in Cabo San Lucas, but it definitely was one of the most memorable given that it was the resorts’ own chefs wowing audiences, not the usual celebrity chefs who have also so passionately put their talents on display at the various gastronomy events in Los Cabos.
