Los Cabos Airport Receives ACI Health Accreditation

For most travelers, the Los Cabos International Airport is the gateway to paradise. Every day, thousands of travelers pass in and out of the Los Cabos airport, and due to the current situation with the Coronavirus, the airport has stepped up as a leader in health and sanitation to protect the local community and all those who come to visit Los Cabos Mexico. Because the airport has consistently been applying preventive measures and protocols, they’ve received the ACI Health Accreditation from the Airports Council International (ACI) World. The AHA program recognizes airports around the world whose safety protocols reach an international standard.

Since 1991, Airports Council international World has been supporting airports as a fundamental asset for communities, representing their common interests and fostering partnerships throughout the travel industry. In response to the Coronavirus pandemic, the AHA program was started to help monitor airport health around the world. Using measurements based on the ACI Aviation Business Restart and Recovery guidelines as well as information from the ICAO Council, a United Nations Specialized Agency, the AHA program helps airports know how to promote health and safety, and the ACI Health Accreditation lets travelers know which destinations are consistently implementing preventive measures.

Because so many travelers pass through the Los Cabos International Airport, implementing the best preventive measures based on the recommendations from world health experts and the ACI airport guidelines was vital to protecting the local community. Throughout the Los Cabos airport, strict cleaning and sanitation practices are being used, especially on commonly touched surfaces, and the airport is promoting social distancing, even when that requires altering the physical layout of staff and passenger facilities. Because the airport has been consistently upholding these new protocols, they’ve been recognized with the ACI Health Accreditation, which makes Los Cabos Mexico the second destination in the world to meet this standard and the first in all of Latin America.

This summer, Los Cabos Mexico has been recognized for more than its airport health. The city has also received the Safe Travels Stamp from the World Travel and Tourism Council. Like the ACI airport award, the Safe Travels Stamp recognizes destinations that have been consistently applying COVID preventive measures throughout the community. Whether you’re lounging in your resort’s pool or exploring the city on a local tour, you’ll see good personal hygiene and social distancing being promoted. Abiding by the rules and regulations of the community and different businesses is important when you’re on vacation.
